The collection of bedrooms and suites at Maniace Boutique Hotel in Ortygia embodies the alpha and omega of the influences that have been absorbed by Sicilian culture over the centuries. In one guestroom the stone is “embroidered” to depict historic Sicilian lace which ends up really looking like fabric thanks to the workmanship carried out according to a drawing by Marella Ferrera. The wall coverings and four-lobed windows of another guest room are allegories of Baroque style, while the details of the furniture of yet another guestroom feature Greek architecture influences.
On the high ceiling of the suggestive Frederick II suite floats Renaissance art, medieval hemlocks and a stone-clad door. Ripples of lava rock shape the room about Mount Etna.
